TKWO 156th Subscription Concert

Concerts

Listened to Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra the 156th Subscription Concert at Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre.

The concert repertoire mainly focuses on French music.
Paul Meyer played the clarinet at the front of the band two pieces of them. Thoroughly enjoyed his sophisticatedly refined and appealing performance! Literally outstanding! Also, TKWO clearly showcased the highest standard of the orchestra’s ensemble ability. Especially, the delicate communication in the Debussy was so fascinating!

Saint-Saëns’s Symphony No.3 “avec orgue” was performed in the second half. It seems quite a tough piece, especially repeating tonguing, to be performed by a wind band. But, TKWO played it very naturally with much musicality.
The ending part was so exciting, but quietness filled the concert hall until the very last reverberations had gone. We can enjoy this kind of moment only in the live concert hall!
