Looking Back on 2024, Month by Month!
- January: Served as the Executive Committee Chair for the JBA Saitama Branch Solo Competition.
- February: Conducted the 4th Annual Concert of the Saitama Luminous Wind Orchestra and my final concert with the Koga City Wind Orchestra before stepping down.
- March: Spent three weeks in China . Upon returning to Japan, I welcomed a visiting group from Hong Kong.
- April: A new school/business year brought significant changes in school teachers at the schools I support. Visited Singapore and Malaysia .
- May: Coducted and supported the annual concert of the Kumagaya Girls’ High School Band, marking the final performance for the third graders—an excellent performance! The Japan Band Clinic saw many participants from across Asia.
- June: Started the month in Taiwan and visited China mid-month, while also performing in Japan.
- July: Had daily rehearsals for competitions. Managed to squeeze in a trip to Singapore for the APBDA board meeting. Earlier in the month, I hosted a music festival with a band from Hong Kong.
- August: Immediately after the competitions, I headed to China, where I served as the main clinician for two major workshops.
- September: Traveled to Singapore and Malaysia in early September and later welcomed a visiting group from Taiwan.
- October: Made my fourth trip to China this year, visiting Shanghai, Lanzhou, Xi’an, Sanming, Wenzhou, and Hangzhou. I also visited Taipei during the trip .
- November: Performed at the Saitama Civic Music Festival and the JBA Saitama Division “Band Day,” where I also contributed as an event organizer. This was my only month without any overnight trips.
- December: Attended the Midwest Clinic in Chicago for the first time in five years.
In addition to the above, I visited Hiroshima three times and was appointed as a board member of the JBA Headquarters.
This year felt like the “end of the pandemic,” even though the virus hasn’t disappeared. International interactions increased, and there wasn’t a single day when I didn’t send text messages in a foreign language. I also had voice calls with people overseas almost every week.
Amidst all this busyness, my pace of writing music regrettably slowed down. Compared to 2022, I think I wrote only about 30% as many measures this year.
As my surroundings and global circumstances continue to change rapidly, I hope to find a good balance for myself moving forward.
Thank you so much to everyone who supported me this year!
I wish you a happy and wonderful New Year!
