Listened to The Evening Ensemble Concert by Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra Clarinet Section at Space Do, Shinjuku, Tokyo.
It’s pretty difficult to listen to the individual sound of each clarinet players because it’s usually heard as “section”. I enjoyed every single artist’s tone, musicality, and character in short distance when members performed as clarinet quartets in the first half!
Last two pieces (and the encore) were performed as an octet.All of eight professional clarinettists “always” play together in the same orchestra.
Perhaps, such a clarinet octet is only one in the world.They can communicate extremely naturally. No big cues were needed. I enjoyed the highest quality interchange of music in the ensemble!
Especially, “La Seine” by Toshio Mashima was super!
