Listened to Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra the 155th Subscription Concert at Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre.
This heavy-repertoire concert was conducted by Maestro Takeshi Ooi, the principal conductor of TKWO.
The combination of the music is quite interesting; both the first and second halves have a variation and “Symphony #3”, and Alfred Reed, whose 100th anniversary is celebrated by the band people all over the world this year, and his teacher Vittorio Giannini.
On the other hand, the contents of music vary so widely in style and texture from difficult work by Schönberg to so sweet and romantic Reed’s Symphony #3 – 2nd movement. The concert full showcased the expressive powers of band music! Maestro Ooi represented the music so clearly and vividly, and the superb performance by TKWO embodied that.
Fully enjoyed the great music today as well!
