I was responsible for the introductory article, “In Memory of Mr Akiyama”, in the April 2026 issue of Band Journal.
The chronological history was compiled by Mr Tomohiko Asakiimori, and the photographs were provided by Ms Kaede Akiyama.
As I noted in the article, it is impossible to fully cover Mr Akiyama’s vast achievements within such a limited space. However, I did my best to convey the breadth of his work to readers across Japan, including the younger generation.
Among those who visited Mr Akiyama’s home regularly, I believe I was one of the youngest, excluding the members of the Omiya Wind Symphony. I feel that having the opportunity to write for a printed publication, a medium with lasting value, is a mission for me to pass on Mr Akiyama’s legacy to the future.
